New Literature Blog

This is my new literature blog. I didn't want to create another account, so I'm using this one. For those who are confused, I created a blog for Music Apprec. class written by Jacques Offenbach, but I'm not him (obviously, since he's been dead for many years!) Sorry for any confusion!

It has been nearly a year since I have written in my journal! Oy! So many things have occurred since I last wrote. I have been producing several shows at my theatre here in the Champs-Elysses, and each has been tremendously successful! Everyone loves them! They love them so much that most of them go straight on to play in London!
Right now, I am trying to make my "big break." I have been told that a two-act version of Orphée aux Enfers (Orpheus in the Underworld) would be nice, but I do not know if it will be successful or not. Hmm...I shall write more some other day.

Happy New Year! I have moved to a new theatre (again!) and am trying to build up a reputation as both an entertainer and a writer. I decided that I should try working with some new "potential-ists," such as Meilhac, Halévy, Nuitter and Scribe.

New Journal

22 June 1855

I had to buy a new journal as my other one was wearing out. It has been about five years since I wrote, and I am still struggling. My opera house was a failure. American critics said that my operettas were a joke, and that I was a failure. 

So, I decided to move down by the Champ-Elysées and am currently making way with my new theatre. I am currently working onLes Deux Aveugles. I hope that I will succeed here in this new theatre!
